The Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has strongly condemned the brutal attack that rocked the Arondizuogu communities in Ideato North Local Government Area on Friday, July 25, 2025.
Gunmen reportedly stormed the villages of Umualoma, Ndiakunwanta, and Ndiejezie in the early hours, unleashing indiscriminate gunfire on residents, leaving many dead and others seriously injured.
In a statement issued by the party and signed by its State Chairman, Hon. John Iwuala, Imo APGA described the incident as “heinous, senseless and unacceptable,” lamenting that such bloodshed has become far too common in Imo communities.
“This senseless act of violence is a stark reminder of the insecurity that has plagued our state for far too long,” Iwuala stated.
“We express our deepest sympathies to the families of the victims, who have lost loved ones or suffered injuries in this brutal attack. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time.” the part stated.
Imo APGA did not hold back in calling out the state government, urging Governor Hope Uzodimma and relevant security agencies to “take immediate and decisive action” to bring the perpetrators to book and restore calm across Imo State.
“The government must work tirelessly to identify the perpetrators of this dastardly act and bring them to justice,”
“Furthermore, we urge the government to develop and implement a comprehensive security strategy that will restore peace and safety to our communities.” Iwuala insisted
The party emphasized the need for proactive measures, noting that only a sincere and well-structured response to the security threats can prevent future occurrences and restore the trust of the people in government.
“The people of Imo State deserve to live without fear of violence and brutality. Imo APGA stands in solidarity with the people of Arondizuogu and the entire state, and we demand that the government takes concrete steps to protect the lives and property of its citizens.”the APGA Chairman added
The party also pledged to continue raising its voice against injustice and insecurity, assuring the people that APGA remains committed to the protection of democratic values, human lives, and community peace in Imo State.
