The Vice Chairman of Owerri West Local Government Area, Hon. Prince Osinachi Amako, widely known as Prince No Vex or Mr. Empowerment, has once again demonstrated grassroots-focused leadership through his widely celebrated “No Vex Business/Skill Empowerment Programme.”
The latest edition of the initiative held on Monday, September 8, at Irete Autonomous Community in Owerri West, attracted residents from across the ten INEC wards and beyond, who turned out in large numbers to witness the exercise.
Dozens of youths and artisans benefited from the scheme, receiving vocational tools such as grinding machines, inverter welding machines, filing machines, welding blades, safety jackets, and protective gloves.
Speaking to journalists, Amako explained that the items were not mere handouts but vital tools for economic survival, designed to promote self-reliance, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihoods.
Amako, who also serves as Coordinating Chairman of the 27 LGA Vice Chairmen in Imo State, stressed that the programme was purpose-driven, not politically motivated.
“God blessed me through my Bet9ja business journey, and I must use that blessing to lift others. True wealth is measured by how many people you help rise, not how much you keep,” he said.
He further urged recipients to maximize the opportunities, reminding them that with the right mindset they could become employers of labour rather than waiting endlessly for government jobs.
The APC Chairman of Owerri West, Hon. Humphrey Umunnakwe, described the programme as a model of compassionate and practical leadership.
Community leaders and stakeholders also hailed the effort, noting that it has become a lifeline for families and a beacon of hope for young people striving for independence.
One of the beneficiaries, a young welder, expressed gratitude after receiving a machine, saying it marked a turning point in his life: “This machine is my breakthrough. I can now open my own workshop and start building a future for myself.”
