The Wife of the Imo State Governor, Lady Chioma Uzodimma, has called on women to embrace courage, continuous learning, and leadership in order to drive meaningful change in society. Represented at the Yes She Can Summit 2.0 in Owerri, she emphasized that the future belongs to women who are bold enough to challenge limitations, leverage opportunities, and chart new paths of influence.

Addressing participants at the Yes She Can Summit 2:0 held in Owerri, on Saturday, she noted that platform serve as catalysts for women to unlearn cultural barriers, acquire new skills, and stand as role models in their communities.
Representative of the Wife of the Governor of Imo State, Hon. Nkechi Ugwu, commissioner for women affairs and social development,with the Convener of Yes She Can Summit 2:0, Dr. Adaora Sydney Jack, with other special guest at the event, Owerri.
According to the wife of the Governor who was represented by the Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Nkechi Ugwu, “The world does not need perfect leaders, but brave women who can inspire others through action.” She applauded the convener, Dr. Adaora Onyechere Sydney-Jack, for her vision in organizing the summit, which she described as a timely intervention to reshape mindsets and empower the next generation of female leaders.
Addressing participants via livestream, the member representing Okigwe North at the Green Chambers of the National Assembly,Hon. Miriam Onuoha, encouraged women to come together to create a society where women are not only seen, but heard, valued and respected.
Earlier in her address the Convener of the Yes She Can Summit Dr. Adaora Onyechere Sydney Jack, emphasized that the era of silence and marginalization for women is over, noting that young women across Imo , from Ngor Okpala to Okigwe, Aboh Mbaise to Oru East , are already shaping the future. She cited examples of girls in Oguta, Ideato, and Mbaitoli breaking new ground in fashion, technology, and healthcare.
“Leadership has worn a single face for too long,” she declared. “But no more. Imo State is pregnant with potential, and her daughters are the labourers of a new future.”
“We must not wait for permission to rise. We must not wait for perfect conditions to begin. We will no longer shrink for the comfort of others,” Onyechere said, insisting that women must take bold steps to create opportunities rather than wait for them.
The Chief Executive Officer of IKORO Okigwe Newspaper, High Chief Sir PMC Okeke who was one of the guest speakers, noted that the African girl child is no longer voiceless.
He said,” We gather today, under the banner of Yes She Can Africa to declare BOLDLY that the African girl is no longer voiceless, no longer invisible, and no longer a bystander in the shaping of her own destiny, but that she is ready to Learn, Leverage, and Lead”.
One of the the keynote speakers, Dr. Vivian Dimgba raised a strong point on how cultural and religious bias has affected young girls in the society, adding that many of them have lost self-esteem and no longer want to strive for greater heights, with most now turning to content creation as their only option.
Dignitaries from all walks of life attended the event, including Engr. Ezenwa Nwagwu,Chief Ify Onyegbule,(DG IBC), among other special guest. Highpoint of the event was the unveiling of the Young Female for Leadership Network (YFLN), and empowerment of winners of Yes She Can Summit 2:0 business competition.
