The Vice Chancellor of Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, Owerri, Professor Stella Lemchi, who joined the Imo State delegation on pilgrimage to the Holy Lands of Jordan and Israel, has prayed for the continued progress and success of the institution.

While in the Holy Land, Professor Lemchi took time for solemn reflection and intercession, committing the university to divine guidance and wisdom. She prayed for sustained peace within the university community, academic excellence among staff and students, and divine provision for infrastructural development and global competitiveness.
Speaking during the pilgrimage, Professor Lemchi emphasized the importance of spiritual renewal and moral strength as foundations for educational advancement.
“Education is not only about the transfer of knowledge, but also about nurturing character, discipline, and the fear of God,”
“Our prayer is that Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education will continue to stand as a beacon of moral and academic excellence in Nigeria and beyond.” Sne said.
Her participation in the pilgrimage also provided an opportunity to explore potential collaborations in heritage education, cultural tourism, and academic exchange between Alvan and institutions in the Holy Land.
This, she noted, aligns with her administration’s vision of repositioning the university as a globally relevant, faith-inspired, and innovation-driven institution.
The pilgrimage, which brought together top government officials, clergy, and leaders from various sectors, offered a unique opportunity for reflection, prayer, and cultural exchange.
The Imo delegation visited several notable biblical and historical sites including the River Jordan, where Jesus was baptized; Mount Nebo, where Moses viewed the Promised Land; the Sea of Galilee, Bethlehem, Nazareth, and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, among others.
With Professor Lemchi at the helm, Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education continues to consolidate its reputation as an institution anchored on faith, integrity, and visionary leadership.
