President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, following allegations recently levelled against him.

Nnaji, who was appointed in August 2023, announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the President, expressing appreciation for the opportunity to serve the nation. He stated that he had become a target of political blackmail and chose to step down to safeguard the integrity of the administration.

In accepting the resignation, President Tinubu lauded Nnaji’s contributions to national development and the progress recorded in the innovation and technology sectors during his tenure. He wished the outgoing minister success in his future endeavours.

The development was confirmed in a statement on Monday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
