The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed that the South-East zone recorded the lowest number of newly registered voters in the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
According to the figures released by the commission, the total number of voters who registered online so far stands at 7,415,760, with the North-East zone topping the chart and the South-East trailing behind.
Data from INEC shows that Borno State leads the country with 783,546 registered voters, followed by Osun State with 632,751, and Lagos State with 590,341. These three states represent the most active registration centres in the current phase of the exercise.
In contrast, states within the South-East geopolitical zone posted the lowest figures.
Abia State recorded only 6,038, Ebonyi followed with 12,489, Ondo (though in the South-West) had 17,121, while Enugu managed just 19,966 new registrants. Imo State, the highest in the zone, had 70,069 registrations — far below the national average.
Other states that recorded high figures include Kebbi (557,778), Ogun (489,282), Kaduna (471,375), and Kano (388,354) — all of which feature among the top ten performing states.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) also showed significant participation with 228,020 registered voters.
At the lower end, apart from the South-East states, Edo (11,166) and Bayelsa (47,041) also ranked among the least performing.
