Students of the School of Education Demonstration Secondary School (SOEDSS), Owerri—popularly known as Alvana Model Secondary School—have been commended for emerging overall winners of the 2025 NNPC/SEPLAT Quiz Competition.
The Vice Chancellor of Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education (AIFUE), Prof. Stella Lemchi, gave the commendation during the presentation of the award to the university management by the school’s principal, Dr. Ngozi Ifediatu.
Prof. Lemchi described the victory as a remarkable milestone and a reflection of the university’s commitment to quality education. She thanked the principal, teachers, and students for their dedication, urging them to remain focused and consistent in their pursuit of excellence.
She also dedicated the award to God and praised the teachers for their continuous role in nurturing students who bring honour to the institution.
In her remarks, Dr. Ifediatu expressed delight over the feat, attributing the students’ success to the improved academic support the school has enjoyed under Prof. Lemchi’s administration.
The teachers—Mr. Eze Augustine, Mr. Eberechi Agim, and Mrs. Amarachi Agim—were applauded for their exceptional mentorship and contributions to the students’ success.
One of the teachers, Mr. Agim, said the recognition from the Vice Chancellor and Principal would further motivate the staff to continue working hard to sustain the school’s winning record.
The victorious students—Miss Joy Nwaneri, Miss Joan Agbiogwu, and Master Marcel Ezenwa—expressed excitement and gratitude, crediting their success to divine guidance and promising to achieve greater feats in the future.
Alvana Model Secondary School has continued to distinguish itself in academic competitions, with previous honours including the Africa Mathematics Ambassadors Award, AFRIMAP Creativity Talent Hub Award, the Eminent Peace Ambassador Award, and the Imo State School Challenge organized by the Nigerian Society of Engineers.
The 2025 NNPC/SEPLAT Quiz Competition award came with ₦5 million for the school, ₦100,000 for each student, as well as laptops, bags, and books for both the students and their teachers.
