Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been handed a life imprisonment sentence after a terrorism conviction.
Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja delivered the judgment on Thursday, bringing a temporary end to a high-profile trial that has drawn national and international attention.
According to the ruling, Kanu received a life sentence on Counts 4, 5 and 6 of the seven-count charge filed against him by the Federal Government.
He was also awarded a separate 20-year jail term on Count 2, to run consecutively with the life sentence.
