In the last few days, I have been inundated with calls, messages, and forwarded copies of the article titled “My History with Dr. Alex Otti” by Chief Charles Ogbonna (Evuleogu Ibeku).
Because my name was mentioned, many have sought clarity from me. It has become necessary, out of respect for the truth and for those who reached out, to offer a few words.
Let me begin by stating clearly that since my exit from office as Scheduler to the Governor on July 4, 2024, I have not issued any public statement—not for lack of what to say, nor for an inability to say it. I have remained silent because I refuse to be part of destroying a house I helped to build in the first place.
While I was away on a two-week leave to see my family and welcome my newborn son in the UK, news filtered in social media that I had been relieved of my duties—based on accusations engineered by those who viewed my loyalty, commitment, and the Governor’s confidence in me as a threat to their own ambitions. Especially those who arrived and became part of a government they neither saw the process nor contributed to its glory. The technocrats of the world.
I must acknowledge those who urged me to seek intermediaries to speak to the Governor on my behalf. My answer was simple and consistent: “You cannot be more Catholic than the Pope.” My loyalty has never been situational.
I chose maturity over noise. I chose silence over bitterness. I directed my energy toward new horizons—toward growing, learning, and nurturing the next generation of leaders across the world.
But because of the questions arising from the well-crafted piece by my highly respected father and political leader, Evuleogu, I feel compelled to clarify certain points—respectfully, truthfully, and without malice.
- I was the brain behind the meeting between Dr. Alex Otti and Chief Charles Ogbonna.
- That single achievement took me over three months of persistent effort.
- Chief Ogbonna was initially reluctant, but his sons eventually prevailed upon him—due largely to my consistent persuasion.
- Once he agreed, I flew in from London to Umuahia solely for that first meeting.
- The personalities whose names appeared in that statement —especially Hon. Acho Obioma—were visibly surprised to see me present.
- The meeting was successful, and all subsequent meetings were arranged with my full knowledge.
- Understandings were reached, which I strongly believe must remain confidential and not for public consumption.
I have tried privately to advise the Governor to caution his aides—particularly regarding the language of hatred, insults, and hostility sometimes deployed in the name of defending government.
Leadership demands wisdom. Political communication requires restraint. People have the right to express disappointment when expectations are unmet—especially after fulfilling their own commitments.
In moments like this, what is required is not aggression but wisdom, courage, and maturity.
