Imo Govt, Police Demolish Notorious Mortuary In Ngor Okpala After Shocking Discoveries

by innonews

The Imo State Government, working in concert with the State Police Command, on Thursday demolished the controversial Ugwudi Mortuary located at Umuhu, Ngor-Okpala, along the Owerri–Aba Road.

The operation was jointly overseen by the commissioner of police, Aboki Danjuma, and the commissioner for health, Chima Egu, who disclosed that the exercise followed a directive from Governor Hope Uzodimma.

Officials said the action became imperative after the mortuary was deemed a severe security liability and a growing public health hazard to residents of the area.

The police had, a week earlier, announced the shocking discovery of more than 100 mutilated bodies on the premises, sparking widespread outrage and fuelling concerns about possible organised criminal activities.
