Prominent leaders and stakeholders in Imo State have paid glowing tributes to Prof. Protus Nathan Uzorma as he marked his birthday, describing him as a courageous intellectual, social critic, and advocate for justice whose voice has shaped public discourse in the state and beyond.
The Orlu Elders Council, in a congratulatory message, lauded Uzorma’s enduring contributions to society, noting that his writings and public interventions have consistently challenged injustice and stimulated meaningful debate on governance, social responsibility, and community development.
The council described the professor as “a beacon of hope and a champion of social justice,” whose influence as an academic and public commentator has inspired positive change across various sectors.
According to the elders, Uzorma’s reputation as a respected university scholar has helped shape generations of students, while his active engagement in civic matters has earned him admiration among intellectuals, youth groups, and community leaders.
They also highlighted his leadership roles within the socio-cultural and civic space, particularly as Secretary of the Orlu Council of Elders and Vice President of Orluzurumee, positions they said underscore the confidence reposed in him by stakeholders in the Orlu zone.
The elders further noted that Uzorma’s advocacy for youth development has made him a significant figure among young people in Imo State, where he has consistently encouraged youths to play constructive roles in leadership, governance, and community advancement.
They pointed to his philanthropic initiatives through the Prof. Uzorma Foundation for Justice and Equity (PUFJE), describing the platform as a vehicle through which the academic has supported the less privileged and promoted fairness and justice within society.
The council also acknowledged Uzorma’s widely read newspaper column, saying it has provided a platform for addressing issues affecting ordinary citizens and exposing social and institutional injustices.
According to the elders, his persistent interventions through research, commentary, and public engagement have earned him the nickname “The Reformer,” a title they say reflects his dedication to reforming society through ideas and principled advocacy.
Similarly, the Ezeanaeche of Isuokporo in Isu Local Government Area, HRH Eze Barr. Darlington Ogbenna, also congratulated Uzorma on the occasion of his birthday, praising his commitment to intellectual development and community service.
In a statement issued from the royal palace and signed by Stanley Alinoh, Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the monarch, Ezeanaeche commended Uzorma’s outstanding contributions to education and his continued role in advancing knowledge and social consciousness.
The monarch prayed for long life, sound health, greater wisdom, and more accomplishments for the professor, expressing optimism that Uzorma would continue to make meaningful contributions to society in the years ahead.
