As political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, Hon. Collins Opurozor, an indigene of Akokwa in Ideato North Local Government Area, on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, hosted members of Ideato Women of Substance (IWS) at Obi-Ubaka in Umuopia-Akokwa, where he called on them to align with the unfolding political movement in Ideato and support the All Progressives Congress (APC) in electing leaders who will unite the people and restore hope to the constituency.
Addressing the women, Opurozor emphasized the central role of politics in shaping the destiny of any society, describing it as the most powerful tool ever created by man, capable of achieving both good and evil. He warned that evil only thrives when good people refuse to get involved, urging the women to see political participation as a civic duty rather than an optional engagement.
The Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodimma on Electronic and Creative Media stated that Ideato has suffered from what he described as ruinous representation at the federal level, which, according to him, has left many people neglected and disillusioned. He stressed the need for a new direction anchored on unity, sincerity of purpose, and people-oriented leadership.
Opurozor highlighted the achievements of the Uzodimma administration, noting that the government has taken deliberate steps to restore the dignity of Ideato nation and unlock its vast potential. He cited ongoing infrastructure development as evidence of this commitment, particularly referencing the Orlu-Umuchima-Akokwa Road as a landmark project that would stand as a lasting legacy for future generations.
He further charged the women to take up the responsibility of grassroots mobilization by engaging in door-to-door political sensitization across communities. According to him, the era of noise, deception, and superficial engagement with the people must give way to meaningful conversations focused on sustainable development and shared prosperity.
In their response, the visibly excited members of Ideato Women of Substance expressed appreciation to Opurozor for the engagement and pledged their readiness to support the APC. The group assured him of their commitment to mobilizing support at the grassroots and urged him to count on them in future political activities.
