Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, has reiterated that the economic reforms introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are already yielding positive results, despite the initial challenges faced by Nigerians.
Uzodimma, who spoke on Thursday in Kaduna State on behalf of governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, said the administration’s “bold reforms and political re-engineering” had begun repositioning the country’s economy.
He said, “When this government came into office in 2023, Nigeria was at a crossroads economically. The President took very bold steps through reforms and policies that are today putting the country back on track.
“Though these reforms came with pains, they were mitigated through strategic palliative measures, particularly interventions driven by the Office of the First Lady.”
The governor commended the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, for what he described as unprecedented humanitarian outreach across the country, targeting vulnerable groups, women, youths, and low-income earners.
According to him, states, including Imo, have significantly benefited from the interventions, with widows and other vulnerable groups receiving critical support.
Uzodimma added that APC governors were satisfied with the direction of the economy and had resolved to continue backing the President’s policies to ensure sustained progress and improved living standards for Nigerians.
Meanwhile, Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, praised the President’s leadership, describing it as courageous and focused at a critical time in the nation’s history.
Sani said the administration had demonstrated clarity of vision and commitment to national renewal through reforms aimed at economic recovery, social inclusion, and institutional strengthening.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda is restoring public confidence and creating opportunities for all Nigerians. While the reforms may be challenging, they are necessary for building a resilient and prosperous nation,” he said.
He also lauded the synergy between the President and the First Lady, noting that their leadership continues to inspire confidence and strengthen national unity.
Speaking at the event, the First Lady said the distribution of palliatives was aimed at supporting vulnerable households in Northern Nigeria ahead of Eid al-Adha.
She announced the distribution of 100 trucks of rice and N1.2bn to 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory, to be implemented through state coordinating committees.
The First Lady said the intervention aligns with the administration’s commitment to inclusiveness, recalling that similar support had earlier been extended to Christian communities in the region.
She urged Nigerians to promote peaceful coexistence, religious tolerance, and unity, stressing that national cohesion remains key to overcoming the country’s challenges.
“A united Nigeria is one that can overcome any challenge,” she said.
She also commended religious leaders, traditional rulers, and community stakeholders for their continued support for government initiatives.
The event, held in Kaduna, attracted dignitaries from across the Northern region, including government officials, religious leaders, and community representatives.
