Cajetan Duke, JP, has formally declared his intention to seek the nomination of the Action Peoples Party (APP) for the Imo State House of Assembly seat representing Ngor Okpala State Constituency.
In a statement, Duke said he made the declaration on Friday during the ward meeting of APP Nguru/Umuowa Ward 6, attended by party members, grassroots stakeholders and supporters who gathered to witness the announcement.
The aspirant said his decision to enter the race was driven by a desire to offer purposeful and result-oriented representation to the people of Ngor Okpala, stressing that legislative office should go beyond ceremonial presence.
He described the atmosphere at the meeting as one filled with enthusiasm and collective resolve, noting that party faithful had embraced a fresh vision aimed at strengthening the constituency’s voice in governance.
Duke appealed for the support, solidarity and prayers of party members as he prepares to begin consultations across communities in Ngor Okpala, saying the tour would enable him engage residents directly and understand their priorities.
According to him, the planned consultations will also help shape a people-centred legislative agenda that reflects the needs, aspirations and development demands of constituents.
The APP aspirant said representation must be redefined into an active responsibility where lawmakers vigorously market the interests of their constituencies and effectively speak for their people at the highest levels of government.
He said his years of personal development, political engagement and strategic preparation have equipped him with the competence required to serve effectively in the state assembly if given the mandate.
Duke added that he had spent years using his voice and energy to promote political ideals and mobilise support for institutions, but now seeks to channel the same commitment directly toward advancing the welfare of Ngor Okpala people.
He pledged that his campaign would be anchored on accountability, transparency and dedication, expressing confidence that with the backing of APP members and residents, Ngor Okpala can witness a new standard of legislative representation.
He further said his ambition was neither accidental nor impulsive, but the outcome of years of preparation, experience and a growing call to service, insisting that the time had come to translate vision into concrete action for the constituency.
