Popular social media activist, Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, has launched a blistering attack on presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, accusing the Tinubu administration of incompetence and insensitivity amid growing insecurity in the country.
The fiery exchange followed comments allegedly made by Mr Onanuga concerning a controversial leaked voice note said to be linked to the outspoken influencer, sparking a fresh wave of political tension online.
In a video that has since gone viral across multiple social media platforms, VeryDarkMan described Mr Onanuga as “daft” and lacking “common sense,” insisting that President Bola Tinubu should not seek re-election in 2027 because those surrounding him were “not intelligent.”
“The reason I said President Tinubu should not come back in 2027 is because the people operating under him no dey use their brain,” the activist said in a mixture of English and Pidgin. “If Tinubu comes back, it’s going to be a disaster.”
The controversial commentator also accused the presidency of selectively reacting to issues involving critics of the government while allegedly ignoring worsening insecurity and kidnappings across parts of Nigeria.
Referencing a recent abduction incident in Oyo State, VeryDarkMan alleged that armed men kidnapped teachers and students from a school, adding that reports emerged that one of the victims had been killed by the abductors.
He criticised Mr Onanuga for failing to publicly address the reported incident, arguing that government officials were more interested in targeting dissenting voices than responding to national tragedies.
“As I speak today, those children are still in an unknown location,” he said. “We don’t know if they are alive or dead, but the only thing they can respond to is an opportunity to silence VeryDarkMan.”
The development has further intensified debates on social media over freedom of expression, the role of government spokespersons, and the Tinubu administration’s handling of security challenges and criticism from public figures.
Neither the Presidency nor Mr Onanuga had officially responded to the latest outburst from the influencer as of the time of filing this report. However, the exchange has continued to generate sharp reactions online, with supporters and critics of both camps trading accusations over the increasingly hostile tone of political discourse in Nigeria.
