The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says no state in the South-East is among the 10 with the highest number of registered voters ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Joash Amupitan, INEC chairman, disclosed this on Tuesday in Abuja. He said the national voter register now stands at 110 million, describing Nigeria as Africa’s largest democracy.
According to the figures, Lagos leads with 7,488,633 registered voters, followed by Kano with 6,570,276 and Kaduna with 4,662,640.
Katsina, Rivers, Oyo, Delta, Benue, Ogun and Bauchi occupy the remaining positions.
Rivers, with 3,736,434 registered voters, is the only South-South state in the top five.
