The race for 2019 Imo governorship contest has begun in earnest with the declaration by Mr.Ike Ibe saying he is interested in the contest.

Ibe is a known serial governorship aspirant in Imo State. He will vie on the platform of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA.

He was also Deputy Governorship candidate of the party in 2015.

In his speech, he said a lot of things had happened to the party during the last general election but that they have learnt much from such experiences.

He urged APGA faithful to see the new development in the party as a new beginning.

According to him, the revelation to run for the highest political office in the state has been given to him by God, adding that “Ike .C. Ibe has no plan for 2019 but God has a plan for Ike .C. Ibe in 2019”.

Continuing in his emotion-laden speech entitled ‘You may not know it’, Chief Ibe stated that it was APGA that enabled Owelle Rochas Okorocha to become a Governor and that it will be APGA that will stop his moves in 2019.
The Obowo-born lawyer and politician warned APGA members and supporters to be courageous as the road to success will be tough and rough, assuring that the APGA family will be tougher and rougher.

Chief Ibe informed the party state executives and local government chairmen that he had already met with another chieftain of the party – Chief Okey Ezeh and that both of them had resolved and agreed to work together for the interest of the party in 2019 irrespective of who emerges as the party’s governorship standard bearer.
Reacting to the declaration of Chief Ibe, Imo State APGA chairman, Barrister Peter Ezeobi re-echoed that what is happening to APGA in Imo is indeed a new beginning.

While wishing Chief Ibe the best of luck in his political ambition, Ezeobi revealed that there will never be any imposition of candidates in the party.
