Mr. Paul Kpaduwa, a businessman based in Anara in Isiebu in Isiala Mbano Local Government Ares of Imo State is yet to be released after his family claimed that N1.5 million was paid as ransom.
Newspaper reports in Owerri said Kpaduwa was kidnapped last Saturday in his home in Umudo village in Anara community upon his return from work.
A family source was quoted to have said the businessman was taken away in his car by his abductors who laid ambush at his gate. The source said the kidnappers later contacted them and they were able to speak to their brother.
He said their brother instructed that the sum of N1.5 million be withdrawn from the bank and given to his abductors at Orodo in the Mbaitoli LGA of the state.
He said the money was withdrawn from two accounts, revealing that after dropping the money at the kidnappers hideout, they are yet to hear from the abductors or speak to their brother.
On April 3, 2017, Paul’s cousin, Ben Kpaduwa was kidnapped at his place of work in Anara after spending several days in the forest. He was later rescued by the Police after a gun battle with the kidnappers.
Police Public Relations Officer, Imo State Police Command, Andrew Enwerem,was reported to have said the State Commissioner of Police, had ordered the victims rescue unhurt within the next 24 hours.
