The All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, Imo State, has called for the unconditional release of Auxillary Bishop of Owerri Catholic Diocese, Moses Chikwe.
In a statement by the party’s spokesman, Comrade Chilagorom Ifeanyi, APGA called on Governor Hope Uzodimma to do the needful to rescue Bishop Chikwe.
The full statement reads:
“It is sad and very unfortunate that there is no security in Imo State at the moment as everyone sleeps with one eye open, and also moves around with serious consciousness and carefulness. What is the hope of the poor masses when traditional, religious and political leaders are living in fear due to insecurity?
“As a peace loving Party, Imo APGA therefore calls upon Senator Hope Uzodinma to do the needful as Chief Security Officer of the state, before it is late. If a Catholic Bishop can easily be kidnapped during the day, it means anything negative can happen within Imo State as the Government continues to fold its hands. It is very unfortunate that Governor Uzodinma has not made any public Press Release since after the ugly incident.
“Imo APGA therefore, encourages the Governor to wake up from slumber to save Bishop Moses Chikwe. APGA also advises the government to tighten up security in Imo State to avoid occurrence of such ugly incident.
“Bishop Chikwe of Owerri Catholic Diocese should be released immediately and unconditionally to avoid the wrath of God. We also call upon those behind this evil act to quickly apologize to God and Bishop Chikwe as he is released.
“Imo has never been known as a kidnapping state and we encourage the government to use every possible and available means to eradicate kidnapping in the state. Nothing should happen to Bishop Moses Chikwe as we quickly expect his unconstitutional release.
