Some members of Imo State House of Assembly are neck deep in recommending the appointment of caretaker committee chairmen for the 27 local government areas on Imo State.
Governor Rochas Okorocha had dissolved the Local Government caretaker committee chairmen last month alongside the state executive council.
Some of the lawmakers especially those in his All Progressive Congress, APC have made their recommendations and are lobbying that their nominees make the cut.
The Governor is also to be relying on his allies, political associates and family members as well to make the nominations.
The move is co- ordinated by a senior government official who has the ears of the governor.
Aside steering the affairs of the Rescue mission government in the grassroots, the would be chairmen will also propagate the succession plans of the governor in the local governments.
A source told this newspaper that the list of the chairmen is ready and would be announced very soon.
Some of the lawmakers are said to have recommended “rescue mission compliant” local government chairmen which they handpicked from the party and considered to be loyal to the cause of the Rescue Mission.
This newspaper was informed by a reliable source that the new state executive council will comprise one person from the 27 local governments in Imo State- a replica of the practice at the federal level where each state is mandated to nominate a Federal Minister.
Some of them may be re- appointed based on their level of commitment and support to the governor.
