Residents and Villagers of Umuguma, a tiny community in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State were in shock when a three storey Building suddenly collapsed.
Some number of people were trapped in the debris including a man with nine members of his family. Sympathizers were not allowed close to the scene.
Many people ran to the site of the collapsed building located close to Imo State Specialist Hospital and Imo Foundation premises.
Officials of the Owerri Capital Development Authority, OCDA have sealed the premises.
Rescue efforts were said to be ongoing. An eye witness was quoted to have said a loud noise was heard and when everyone came to see what the matter was, it was discovered that the building has collapsed.
“ It looks like a big hole was dug under the building and entire structure just collapsed” said an eye witness.
