Despite the hype in the local media in Imo State that the centre is no longer holding in Imo state chapter of the All Progressive Congress APC, key actors in the party- Governor Rochas Okorocha, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume and Senator Benjamin Uwajumuogu met at the inauguration of the All Progressive Congress Congress and Convention Committee held in Abuja on Monday.

It is the first time the trio are exchanging banters in public after they were reported to be on a war path over control of the party structure in Imo State. Photos seen by this newspaper showed Senator Araraume having a handshake with Governor Okorocha who was sitted on the high table at the event.

Uwajumuogu and Araraume are known political allies in Imo APC with the latter bent on clinching the APC governorship ticket as a prelude to win the Imo governorship election. Governor Okorocha had been reported to be displeased with the appointment of Senator Uwajumuogu as the party’s National Convention/Congress Committee though no official statement has emanated from his media handlers to say so.

There is polarization in Imo APC with “opposition forces” in the party opposed to plans by the Governor to back his son in law and Chief of Staff, Uche Nwosu as his successor.

Political analysts had believed that Uwajumuogu’s appointment as the party’s Secretary of the Convention and Congress Committee gives the “opposition forces” in Imo APC an upper hand in the ongoing  political chessboard in the party in Imo State, a claim disputed by Okorocha’s loyalists who say such assumption is baseless and hold no water.
