Pensioners in Imo State have taken their case to God.
The senior citizens have consistently lamented over unpaid entitlements and pensions by the Okorocha administration.
At a church service held at Maria Assumpta cathedral, Owerri, Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Evang.Livinus Ashiegu, said they decided to take their matter to God as part of their strategies to get the Okorocha government to respond to the pleas of Imo Pensioners.
“Nothing is impossible with God” he said
He said pensioners in Imo State are owed between 33 and 99 months pension arrears revealing that the State government has paid gratuities to retired workers since 1999..
In his homily, Archbishop Obinna, the Catholic Bishop of Owerri Diocese condemned in strong terms the unfair treatment meted to Imo pensioners.
“Our leaders today commit all sorts of atrocities because they want to become billionaires at the expense of the life and well being of fellow human beings..
” We look forward to having a leader servant in Imo State to get things working again”
He encouraged them not lose faith in God.
