Prof. Protus Nathan Uzorma is more than a double edged sword- a fiery critic, an advocate of youth empowerment and an apostle of social, economic and political reformation.

Protus as popularly called by friends and admirers is rated one of the fiercest critics in Imo State, his strong views on contemporary issues are like hot knife on butter that melts away anti peoples policies of bad leaders.

He was a thorn in the flesh of the past administration in the State, as he repeatedly fired salvos on policies he considered inimical to the overall happiness of the people.

Many attest to his oratorical prowess. He is adjudged a relentless critic of bad governance. His opposition to irresponsible leadership was evident when he, via his Foundation, stood in for pensioners in Imo State when they were owed several months of pensions by the past administration .

He would also be remembered to be a strong advocate of equity. He echoed his voice in support of fair-play and equity when Owerri zone, (despite the fact he is one from Orlu Zone) was shortchanged for the governorship of Imo State in 2015. He later plunged into the murky waters of the contest despite the influx of political heavyweights with deep pockets.

To strengthen his conviction that Owerri zone deserves to produce the governor of the State, Protus was among those who organized the historic Imo Political Summit that insisted that equity must be adhered to in electing the State Governor. He matched words with action by roundly backing an Owerri zone governorship candidate (he is from Orlu Zone), by emerging the Deputy Governorship candidate of United Progressive Party, UPP in 2015.

The battle to have Owerri zone produce Imo State Governor in 2015 may not have succeeded, but the efforts remarkably raised the bar, and contributed significantly to the emergence of Emeka Ihedioha CON, from Owerri zone as Imo Governor.

Protus nicknamed the “Reformer” also wears the garment of ambassador of the youths, using every fora and platform to advance the cause of the youths in Imo State and beyond.

This earned him a rare honour “Mayor Of Imo Youths” conferred on him by youth leaders in the State, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the advancement of the youths. He is a firm believer in the fact that the youths posses the keys to the future of a prosperous Imo State and Nigeria.

He is adjudged a relentless critic of bad governance. His opposition to irresponsible leadership was evident when he stood in for pensioners in Imo State when they were owed several months of pensions by the past administration in the State.
