There is still tension in Imo State over the Supreme Court Judgement that sacked Emeka Ihedioha of the PDP and declared Senator Hope Uzodinma of the APC as duly elected Governor of the State.

Ihedioha and the PDP had faulted the judgement citing flaws in it and this has set the stage for fresh altercations between contending forces.

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma on Thursday fired a warning shot saying he will no longer tolerate protests staged by PDP members in the State capital, Owerri

Since Uzodinma was sworn in as Governor, the PDP had carried out several protests in the State over the ruling calling for reinstatement of Emeka Ihedioha as Governor.

Uzodinma told members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, who called on him at Government House, Owerri, that he has been lenient enough with the series of protests by PDP members vowing not to tolerate such anymore.

He said he will personally speak to them to desist from further disturbance of the peace of the state.

His statement came barely few hours the social media was abuzz with statements credited to Ihedioha’s erstwhile Deputy, Gerald Irona..

Irona was quoted to have said that Uzodinma will not govern the State citing influences from certain quarters in the country which he alleged, influenced the judges to rule in Uzodinma’s favour.

These altercations are coming on the heels of Uzodinma being part of Federal Government delegation led by President Muhammadu Buhari that will attend AU summit in Adis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Last week, Imo State Deputy Governor, Placid Njoku while speaking to APC supporters who were on a counter protest against series of protests by the PDP, said Governor Uzodinma will govern Imo State for eight years.
