Majority Leader Emeritus of Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Lugard Osuji, has encouraged Imolites, to remain strong and do not despair over the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic across the globe.

In a statement in Owerri, Osuji noted that while the pandemic and the recent lockdown by the State government, has brought difficult times for the people, it is only their resolve that will see them through during this turbulent period.

He said “We should remain strong and do not despair. This bad wind will blow away very soon.

“The Coronavirus pandemic has come and I am confident that it will go. The lockdown in the State as difficult as it is for our people is not meant to punish us, but to ensure the virus does not get to our State

“The stay at home directive by the State government is a major step to prevent the spread of the pandemic.  And with these measures in place and with our prayers, the deadly pandemic will not infect anyone in Imo State” he said

Osuji, who represented Owerri Municipal state constituency in the state House of Assembly from 2015- 2019, and widely remembered for reconstructing and equipping a state of the art of medical facility in his constituency, advised citizens of the state to always obey and keep to the rules and instructions of health officials on the pandemic.

“We must wash our hands always, make use of sanitizers and adhere to social distancing. With strict adherence to these instructions, I believe no one will be infected” he said
