The lockdown in Imo State, aimed at curtailing the spread of coronavirus pandemic seems to be biting hard on Imolites as commercial and business activities grind to a complete halt on day 2 of the lockdown.

Major roads and streets were deserted in Owerri as Stern looking security personnel mounted barricades at exit and entry points of the State.

There were fewer vehicles on the roads, as shops and markets remain closed.

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, while commissioning six isolation centres in the State, sassured Imo people that government will continue to review the situation of things on a weekly basis and relax the measures in place if things improve or even tighten the measures if occasion demands.

Residents however complained of hike in prices of food items, calling on the state government to set up a Task Force to curb it.
