Imolites residing abroad have lamented their ordeal since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic across the globe.
“We have been on lockdown for more than a month now. It’s not been easy”says Chris Obiefule, an Imolite who spoke to this newspaper from Hamburg, Germany
He continued ” We are on a lockdown. I have not been work for over a month.
” The last time I went to work, we were told stop and not to return until we receive notification to do so through our emails or telephone call. We were told to stay safe and observe medics instructions on how avoid getting infected by Covid 19.
He said there are palliatives for the lockdown.
“I was paid my entitlement, wages before the lockdown took effect.
“Though initially, it was difficult for me to cope with, but now, I m getting used to it.
“There is uninterrupted power supply, data, and we do have access to essential items and commodities.
“We need to stay safe” he added
Mr.Onyebuchi Ekennia, an Imolite who works as a bank staff and resides in Quebec, Canada said he now operates from home.
“I now work from home. Most of us do so now. It is a prevention measure to curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic
” We do skeletal movements at least to shop for groceries and other essential items but with strict caution as we observe all the rules particularly the social distancing.
“It’s not easy but it’s necessary. I m coping very fast. There is electricity, water, food in the House and other amenities. It’s a whole new experience. Periodically, we given updates on the situation and told not to panic
” I call on brothers and sisters back home in Nigeria to stay safe. This coronavirus is real and it is a killer. It’s no joke. It exists.
