Elder statesman and frontline politician, Chief Engr Emmanuel Iwuanyawu, has opened up on his experiences on June 12 , stating that he personally spoke to former military president, Ibrahim Babangida against cancelling the June 12, 1993 presidential election.
Speaking at a stakeholders meeting organized by Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, as part of activities marking Democracy Day celebration in Owerri, Iwuanyanwu said had it been an Igbo man won the election, no fellow Igbo will fight for him.
He said June 12 may be history but its struggle clearly showed him a lot of things which include that Igbo men do hate themselves.
Iwuanyanwu said if it was an Igbo man his presidential mandate was unjustly truncated, no one will speak or fight on his behalf. He expressed regret that Igbos do not celebrate their heroes as they prefer Pull Him Down Syndrome.
