The resolve of Igbo leaders to embark on solidarity march on December 27, 2020, as part of measures to press home their demand to produce Nigeria’s next President, has been applauded.

A group, Concerned APC Stakeholders in the South East, said they are in support of the solidarity march and other “proactive measures adopted by Igbo leaders over the 2023 presidential project”

Igbo leaders including State Governors, Ministers, prominent traditional rulers, had met in Enugu, where they adopted several initiatives to actualize the 2023 presidential project.

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Chairman in diaspora, Chief, Dr Nwachukwu Anakwenze, had told reporters  in Awka, that Christian clerics from the orthodox and Pentecostal churches would be involved in the march.

According to him, the march will take place simultaneously  in the five South East states of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo.

In a statement signed by Kelvin Anyanwu, and Malachy Onyenakanya, and made available to INNONEWS, the group said it is also in support of the resolve of Igbo leaders to write to President Muhammadu Buhari, the leadership of the All Progressive Congress, APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on the need for both political parties to field an Igbo as it’s presidential candidate for 2023 presidential election.

“We salute the uncommon courage and unity displayed by Igbo leaders on the quest by Igbo nation to produce the next president of Nigeria in 2023.

“This is the first time our revered leaders have spoken in unison, with one voice on the need for other parts of the country to support the legitimate quest of Igbo to produce the next president of Nigeria.

The group however maintained that the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, remains the only vehicle that “will assuredly convey the Igbo nation to the Presidential Villa in 2023″

“The APC is the ruling party in the country, and as strategic stakeholders in the party, we advise strongly the Igbo embrace the party ahead of the 2023 elections to ensure the realization of a Nigerian President of Igbo extraction” the statement stated
