The 9th National Assembly has unveiled Bills Tally of members, in otherwords, the number of bills sponsored on the floor of the Senate and the House of Representatives by members.

Imo State have three senators in the Senate and ten members in the House of Representatives.

They collectively raked in 45 bills, a feat adjudged impressive, above Gombe and Katsina States, with higher number of Representatives in the Senate and House of Reps.

The period under review, according to the report seen by INNONEWS is from June 2019- May 2021.

Frank Ibezim, Senator for Okigwe zone, (APC) who was sworn into the Senate, barely two months ago, has thus far, no bill to his name.

His predecessor, Benjamin Uwajumuogu, who passed away in December 2019, had sponsored two bills.

Among the ten members of the House of Representatives from Imo State, Hon Ikenna Elezianya (PDP), member representing Owerri Federal Constituency, Hon Chike John Okafor (APC),member representing Ehime Mbano/Ihitte Uboma/Obowo Federal Constituency, Hon Jerry Alagbaso (PDP), member representing Orlu/Oru East/Orsu Federal Constituency have not sponsored a bill within the period.

Alagbaso, a ranking member is without a bill to his name in two years.

Aside Hon Elezianya, who is a first time House member, Hon Okafor is in the House for a second term.

However, a total of 30 bills were initiated on the floor of the green chambers by the ten members of the House of Representatives from the State.

Hon Paschal Obi (APC), who represents Ideato North/South Federal Constituency, came tops sponsoring seven bills, closely followed by Hon. Henry Nwawuba (PDP), member representing Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency, who sponsored six bills.

Two times lawmaker, Hon Ugonna Ozuruigbo, (APC), member representing Isu/Njaba/Nkwerre/Nwangele Federal Constituency and first time member, Hon Miriam Onuoha, (APC), member representing Isiala Mbano/Okigwe/Onuimo Federal Constituency, sponsored five bills each.

Hon Bede Ekeh (PDP), member representing Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala Federal constituency, sponsored four bills, while Hon Kingsley Uju (APC), member representing Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta Federal Constituency sponsored two bills.

Hon. Chinedu Martins (PDP), member representing Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Mbaise Federal constituency, was credited with one bill, which proposed a five year jail term for unlawful protesters in the country.

He withdrew the bill tagged “Anti Jungle Justice” bill, after it sparked widespread reactions.

Senator Rochas Okorocha (APC), representing Orlu Zone and Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi (PDP), representing Owerri zone, collectively sponsored 15 bills within the period in the red chambers of the Senate.

Senator Onyewuchi sponsored eight bills, while Okorocha sponsored seven bills, an improvement from last year when the former governor had no bill.
