*Party May Lose the Support of 100 million Christians In Nigeria*

The All Progressives Congress, APC, may lose the 2023 presidential election, because of the resolve of the party to field two Muslims, as it’s Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates, for the 2023 presidential election.

Reacting to the party’s Muslim/Muslim ticket, a chieftain of the party in Abia State, Hon Godswill Umunna, said “the party has misfired, shot itself on the foot and reduced it’s chances of winning the 2023 presidential election”

APC Presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a Muslim, on Sunday settled for another Muslim- former Governor of Borno State, Senator Kashim Shettima, as his Running Mate.

Umunna said Tinubu and the APC “acted in bad faith and failed to understand the mood of the nation, which is strongly against same faith ticket”

“There is no basis for this grave political error by the APC and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

“It is unacceptable and against the grain of common sense.

“The APC, by this singular act, has handed over the votes of more than 50 million Christians to its major opponents who are also taking part in the presidential contest in 2023. This is the highest level of insensitivity to millions of Christians in the country.

“A Muslim/Muslim ticket will deny the APC the support of over 100 million Christians, who already feel insulted by this grave political error by our great party.

“I wonder why the APC cannot balance it’s quest to retain the presidency in 2023, like other political parties had done.

“Labour party and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, choose Muslim/Christian tickets. Why should APC do otherwise?

“APC’s Muslim/Muslim marks the political funeral of the governing party in the South East and South- South, and in other areas, Christians are dominant.

“I wonder the basis for a Muslim/Muslim ticket. The fault lines of our nation have so visible in the past eight years. And this development does not augur well for it.

“Relying on Muslim/Muslim ticket of Abiola and Kingibe, in 1993, is no justification for it to be repeated 20 years after. Nigeria has undergone tremendous change since then and a Muslim/Muslim ticket is not just the right way to go for our country” he concluded
