Why We Endorsed Alex Mbata For Senate- Owerri Zone Women

The Senatorial bid of Prince Alex Mbata, the All Progressives Congress, APC, Imo East Senatorial candidate is in full swing, following the massive support his aspiration has attracted from key stakeholders in the zone.

The latest to join the wave of support for the business mogul are women from Owerri zone, drawn from the nine local governments who vowed to support Mbata in his quest to become Senator.

Mbata was last week endorsed by former Secretary to the Government of Imo State, Sir Jude Ejiogu.

Ejiogu, a major political stakeholder in Owerri zone and one time governorship hopeful, had said that, after his careful analysis of all the contestants for the Senate race, Mbata is the right choice.

Mbata’s endorsement took place at the palatial country home of Sir Ejiogu in Emekuku in Owerri North LGA, where each spokesperson of the women from the each of the nine local governments showered praises on the billionaire business mogul and philanthropist.

Speaking on behalf of the women, a former Owerri North Local Government Transition Committee Chairman, Mrs Ngozi Iheme, described Prince Mbata as a good man.

“He is a good man with a good conscience and a fine character.

“Mbata, when he was Pro Chancellor of Imo State University, resisted every attempt by some forces to undo me” Mrs Iheme stated.

She continued “When he becomes Senator, Owerri zone will be better off.

“If we must have dividends of democracy in Owerri zone, we must elect Mbata as our next Senator, because he is a man who has the fear of God.Owerri zone women must come together to deliver PAM.

“He is the best among the rest in the contest and he will deliver and live up to our expectations” she said

Several women from each of the nine local governments in Owerri zone gave kudos to Mbata, whom they described as the right choice for the Senate seat of the zone.

One of the key speakers at the event, Chief (Mrs) Dorathy Aduba, popularly called Ada Mbaise, praised Mbata, recalling his humanitarian efforts which has benefited the vulnerable in the zone.

Other speakers such as Mrs Nneoma Isiguzo, Felicia Oluo (Ezinihitte Mbaise), Mgbechi Onyekachi (Ngor Okpala), Ngozi Nwaneku (Ikeduru) and other speakers from Owerri Municipal,Owerri West and Mbaitoli, drummed support for Mbata.

In his brief remarks, Mbata said he is in the race for Owerri zone Senate, to continue the good works he has already started.

He said women occupy an important place in his plans for Owerri zone, a major factor, he noted had propelled him to include over 80 percent women in his several empowerment programmes for the Vulnerable In the zone.

Mbata, popularly called PAM, said Owerri zone would be better off by the time he completes his tenure as their Senator, urging them to come out en-masse and cast their votes for him in the February 25, 2023 presidential and National Assembly elections.

Among stakeholders in Owerri zone who witnessed the event include Chief Henry Njoku (Harritex), former Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Godfrey Dikeocha, Chief Chris Ogonus Okoro, Hon Tanana Biaduo, Mr.Emma Mbata, Barr Ihegworo, and many others.
