About 5, 000 Youths in Imo State have graduated from the State governments’s Skill Up programme.

In his speech at the graduation ceremony, Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, expressed happiness over the success of the programme and the graduation of the youths.

He said more of such programmes will help to eradicate banditry and insecurity in the State as more youths would be gainfully employed.

He charged the graduands to take full advantage of the opportunities offered by the digital skills training

In his remarks, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Pantami, said the Skill Up programme is a major shift from creating job employees to job employers.

He encouraged the youths to leverage on the era of digital revolution to build a knowledge based economy as obtained in China, United State and Japan whose economies are driven by digital innovation.

He commended Governor Hope Uzodimma for the programme, describing him as a “Digital Governor”

He challenged the youths to invest in critical thinking and take advantage of the programme, as they could become the next Mark Zuckerberg.

In his remarks, the State Commissioner for Digital Economy and E Government, Dr. Chikezie Amadi, said the SkillUp Imo project, is one of the strategic initiatives of Governor Hope Uzodimma, designed to provide free training and support to 100,000 Imolites, particularly the youths.
