Ahead of Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly election, Owerri Zone Traditional Rulers, have once again, re echoed their endorsement for Alex Mbata, the All Progressives Congress, APC, Imo East Senatorial candidate.
Recall that on October 21, 2022, the Monarchs in Owerri zone had identified Mbata as the rightful person to represent the zone in the senate.
Chairman of Owerri Zone Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze David Osuagwu Akujobi, said Monarchs in the zone, after assessing all the candidates in Imo East Senatorial race, resolved to support Mbata.
Each of the nine traditional rulers in Owerri zone namely Ikeduru, Mbaitoli, Ezinihitte Mbaise, Ahiazu Mbaise, Aboh Mbaise, Owerri Municipal, Owerri North, Owerri West, Ngor Okpala, took turns to bless Mbata’s senatorial bid, by resorting to washing of his hands and feet with water.
Eze Osuagwu, said there was need to reinforce Mbata’s endorsement for Owerri zone senate on the basis that he remains the most competent among all the candidate vying for the seat.
He recalled that past representatives of the Senatorial zone had performed below expectations of the people of Owerri zone, and there is need for a change, by electing a Senator who is propelled by the desire to give quality representation of the zone at the Red Chamber.
He noted that Mbata has proved to be a worthy son of Owerri zone, recalling his numerous empowerment programmes in the past which was geared towards human development in the zone.
In his remarks, Mbata, popularly called PAM, said he will never disappoint the good people of Owerri Zone if elected to the Senate, and commended the monarchs for finding him worthy for the endorsement.
