The Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Labour party in Imo State, Mr F.B.I Onyekwulisi, has said there is no faction in the party.

In a statement he personally signed and made available to INNONEWS, the party Chairman stated that the party is one in Imo State.

The statement reads:

“Our attention has been drawn to publications insinuating that the there are factions in Imo State LP.

“For the avoidance of doubt, We hereby state unequivocally that Imo LP in one and solidly intact under the leadership of Comr. Festus Bethel Iyke Onyekwulisi, the Chairman of Caretaker Committee appointed by the National Working Committee on Monday 6th March, 2023 following the expiration of the tenure of the Dr. Ambrose Onyekwere-led Executive Committee.

“We urge our members to ignore diversionary antics employed by enemies of the party who are yet to recover from the shock of the glaring defeat of their presidential candidates by our candidate, His Excellency, Sir Peter Obi, at the presidential polls on Saturday 25th February, 2023.

“The status quo ordered by the court clearly confers authenticity of state leadership of the party on the F.B.I. Onyekwulisi-led Caretaker Committee.

“We know the subversive elements and moles planted in the party for the singular purpose of causing confusion aimed at sabotaging our success at the House of Assembly polls billed for Saturday 18th March, 2023.

“We assure our teeming members that the moles shall be dealt with strictly in accordance with the Constitution of our great Party.

In a related development, the party Chairman also accused the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, of plotting “cluster election” in some local government areas as a result of insecurity for the March 18, 2023 House of Assembly election in the state.

He alleged that “the plan the election manipulators is to gather voters from affected areas at the Local Government Area Headquarters to vote for APC under the supervision of compromised INEC officials and security officers who will scare supporters of other parties away from the polling units.

“We want to state categorically that LP will not be party to cluster election in any part of the state and will resist the attempt to subvert the will of Nigerians as was witnessed during the Presidential and National Assembly elections on Saturday 25th February, 2023.

“We urge Imo electorates to turnout en masse and vote their conscience at the House of Assembly polls billed for Saturday 18th March, 2023.

“We assure them that their votes will be protected” the statement concluded
