Enugu came alive with excitement on Saturday, 6th December 2025, as the Imo State University Alumni Association (Enugu Unique Chapter) hosted its much-anticipated Unique Day Celebration and Annual Banquet 2025 at Discovery Suites, New Haven. But no moment captivated the audience more than the grand, unforgettable entrance of Chief Barr. Okey Ozumba (Nzeakonobi-001), Ezechukwunyereoha I of Okabia.
The atmosphere shifted instantly. Guests stood, cameras flashed. A powerful wave of admiration and respect swept across the hall. According to the Planning Committee Chairman, Dr. Ugochukwu Lawrence Okorozoh, KSJI, Fnimn, the moment was “electrifying, awe-inspiring, and a reminder of the power of true leadership.” The evening transcended a regular alumni gathering; it was a celebration of distinction.
Chief Ozumba, a former National President of the IMSU Alumni Association who also chaired the event, moderated the theme discussion “Strengthening Bonds, Inspiring Legacy” with striking poise, clarity, intellectual depth, and a commanding presence that held the audience spellbound. His ability to engage both panelists and audience with seamless transitions kept everyone captivated.
Dr. Okorozoh lauded his ability to steer the discussion, highlighting the thoughtful way he engaged the panel and audience alike. “Every question, every transition, every insight was masterfully delivered with precision. He reminded us why he is a symbol of leadership and excellence.”
Beyond his leadership presence, Chief Ozumba also made a huge personal financial support that greatly strengthened the event’s success, for which the Chairman of the Enugu (Unique) Chapter, Comr. Gerald Chiemeka Ikwuneme, offered heartfelt appreciation and also thanked him for honoring the chapter with his presence and generous support, which helped the chapter deliver this memorable event. His generosity was widely acknowledged as yet another demonstration of his long-standing commitment to the growth of the alumni family. Special recognition also went to Amb. Chibuzor Paul Ezidiukwu, the Europe Chapter Secretary, whose goodwill messages and extraordinary support were so immense that members joked that his greetings alone could have sponsored the brochure.
The evening featured distinguished speakers whose ideas enriched the celebration:
Prof. Eze Chidi Nwauba, Vice Chancellor, I-FATOSS University, Republic of Benin, delivered a keynote address that was profound, inspiring, and transformative, whereas Barr. Kenneth Obisike, a Senior Legal Counsel & Operational Excellence Lead, Renaissance Africa Energy Company Ltd., and National Legal Adviser of IMSU Alumni Association, offered legal and professional insights that sparked engaging discourse, while Assoc. Prof. Uche Martha Ogbuke of the Department of Sociology & Anthropology, Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), Agbani, brought depth, clarity, and socio-cultural perspective to alumni engagement. Together with Chief Ozumba, the trio created a powerful synergy that left the audience enriched and energized.
The emotional peak of the event came when Chief Ozumba received the Outstanding Alumni Leadership Award, a recognition celebrated with a standing ovation and thunderous applause. It was a moment that affirmed his legacy of service, excellence, and transformational leadership.
Indeed, it was a night of excellence, unity, and legacy. From the décor to the program flow and logistical precision, the 2025 Unique Day Celebration and Annual Banquet set a new standard for excellence within IMSU alumni circles. As the journey continues toward the 2026 National Convention, the Enugu Unique Chapter stands taller, bolder, and more ready than ever to host the biggest constellation of Imo stars across the globe.
Dr. Okorozoh expressed profound gratitude to all attendees, resource persons, supporters, and organizers for contributing to an evening that showcased unity, leadership, heritage, and pride.
As the lights dimmed and guests departed, one sentiment echoed across the room: this was a day where leadership, excellence, unity, and inspiration converged, and an evening where an entrance truly set the hall on fire.
