The apex political leadership group in the 12 Local Government Areas of Orlu Zone, the Orlu Political Action Committee (OPAC), has resolved to nominate Chief Uche Ben Odunzeh as the consensus choice of Orlu Zone for the Deputy Governorship slot of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the November 11th Governorship Election in the State.
The resolution was reached during a meeting of OPAC General Assembly in Ejemekwuru, Oguta LGA, on Friday.
In a statement signed by OPAC Publicity Secretary, Barr Nnamdi Maduka, the group stated that “After a thorough review of the political situation in Orlu Zone and Imo State, OPAC feels deeply convinced that there has become an overriding need to depart from the old order and to elect leaders who have the vigour, vision, intellect, passion and pedigree in the management of men and resources to paddle the affairs of Imo State in the next four years.
“Our endorsement of Chief Odunzeh is rooted in his capacity, intellect, vision, experience and track record in creating value which spans many years. By our objective assessment, Chief Odunzeh has proven that he is the right choice to pair with Senator Samuel Anyanwu in order to unite and mobilize the young and the old within Orlu Zone and deliver PDP at the polls.
“As an economic expert, he understands the fundamental role of governance which includes fostering economic growth through sound fiscal policies that stimulate development and ultimately enhance the living standards of the greatest majority of our people.
“Chief Odunzeh is best suited to fit the needs of the state because he is passionate about socio-political reformation of the Imo along the lines of prudent management of resources and innovative undertakings and opening up the space for the young people to participate in governance.
“As Deputy Governor, he also has the capacity to support the Governor to unearth some of the natural endowments that the state is blessed with and that had remained untapped by successive administrations due to ineptitude.
“OPAC has seen in him a young professional who would not settle for mediocrity but rather go for excellence in all his engagements that will enhance the overall development of the state in areas such as health, education, infrastructural and manpower development, transport and welfare of workers among others.
“The creative talents of the youth in the state which had lost steam under the watch of successive administrations is likely to receive a boost because because Chief Odunzeh has over the years prioritized through advocacy the revitalization of the creative endowments of Imolites.
“His abiding faith in the glorious future of Imo manifests each time he is called upon to share his views on aspects of governance in the state. He is always emphatic that the major obstacle on the way of the state to achieve greatness is the absence of a visionary leader who is skilled and passionate about management of resources and creation of wealth for public good.
“OPAC, therefore, enjoins the PDP Governorship Candidate, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and indeed all the leaders of PDP to choose and support Chief Odunzeh as the Deputy Governorship Candidate of the Party. This is the surest way to bring about the steam, passion and determination of Orlu people and young people across Imo State to participate in electing a PDP government.
“OPAC further directs our teeming members across Orlu Zone to immediately begin the reactivation of our grassroots structures so as to commence mass mobilization once Chief Odunzeh emerges” the statement concluded.
