The re-invigoration of the sponsorship of people for Christian Pilgrimage to Holy land by the Imo state government has been described as a divine dividend of democracy, which will uplift the spirituality of the masses.

The Special Adviser to Imo Governor on Imo Orientation Agency,Chief Fidel Onyeneke stated this in Owerri on Sunday, while speaking to Newsmen.Onyeneke said that the magnanimity of Governor Hope Uzodinma to sponsor up to one thousand Pilgrims, was a clear indication of his interest and commitment to the work of God.

He observed that Imo people, who are predominantly Christians, would be abundantly blessed by the religious and moral lessons they acquired from the Pilgrimage. Onyeneke expressed optimism that the Pilgrims on return to the state, would live by example, and impact the good tidings they imbibed,to other members of the society.

According to the Special Adviser,by so doing, they would contribute immensely to the rejuvenation of the various communities in the state as well as change the moral conduct of many individuals.

Onyeneke urged the Pilgrims to pray fervently for the security, unity and peaceful coexistence of Imo dwellers,as a deliberate effort to justify their stay in the Holy land.He appealed to Imo citizens to reciprocate the kind gestures of Governor Uzodinma,by praying for the success of his administration in rendering good governance,as well as appreciating the laudable programs of the government which touched positively on the lives of the Imo Electorate.

Onyeneke reiterated the need for the masses to shun the various vices which had often led to violence and insecurity ,especially in the rural areas while remaining their brothers keepers. He called for a change of attitude among Nigerians,in order to enhance harmonious living, and discourage the escalating destruction of lives and property that has assumed a dangerous dimension..
