Imo Guber:Oldest And Youngest Governorship Candidates Emerge

Of the 17 governorship candidates of various political parties released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to participate in the November 11 Imo State governorship election, a look at INEC list reveal that there are three candidates beyond the age of 60 years participating in the contest.

Governor Hope Uzodimma, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC and Senator Athan Achonu, governorship candidate of the Labour Party, are 64 years old.

They are the oldest governorship candidates in the race.

Strangely, the Young Progressives Party, YPP, fielded 63 years old governorship candidate, Opara Kemdi and a 78 years old deputy governorship candidate, Okereke Leo Nwafor.

The governorship candidate of the Action Alliance, AA, General Jack Ogunewe (retd), is 60 years old.

A look at the INEC list of candidatesm also show that the youngest governorship candidate in the contest is Iwuanyanwu Isaac of BP. He is 34.

Other governorship candidates who fall in the category of 40 years are Andy Chibuike of Zenith Labour party, ZLP, and Edoziem Clinton of APM.

INNONEWS had reported that all the 17 governorship candidates cleared by INEC to take part in the polls are male. No female was nominated as governorship candidate by any of the political parties.

However, the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Action Democratic Party, ADP, nominated female deputy governorship candidates. They are Ekomaru Chinyere Ihuoma (APC) and the Vivian Ogechi Ottih (ADP).
