There is intense lobby for federal appointments by some key players in the All Progressives Congress, APC in Imo State.

The ministerial slot for the State in the Ahmed Tinubu administration is also at the front burner of interest.

Governor Hope Uzodimma is said to be keeping close to his chest his ministerial nominee for Imo State.

State Governors usually nominate ministerial nominees from their States, especially governors of the ruling party. In some cases, two ministerial nominees may come from a State.

The President can also handpick any nominee of his choice from any State of the Federation.

This newspaper was told that despite the overwhelming interest shown by some Imo APC stalwarts for the plum job, it is not certain whom among the vast network of Uzodimma’s loyalists in the party he may have nominated.

President Bola Tinubu is expected to announce his ministerial nominees on his return from Guinea Bissau where he went to attend ECOWAS summit.

The nominees will be screened by the Senate.

A source, a top official in the state government said those interested in the job are keeping their fingers crossed.

The source said “The Governor has a style. He has way of popping up surprises under such circumstance.

“When the scramble for his Running Mate was at it’s peak, most APC chieftains expected him to appoint one of his numerous loyalists.

“But lo and behold, he went for a woman, someone not even so active in the party” the source stated.
