20 Year Old Student Drowns In Owerri Flood

A 20-year-old student from a secondary school in Owerri met a tragic fate in a recent flood in Owerri metropolis after a heavy downpour on Thursday evening.

The young girl, whose identity remains unknown, was said to have attempted to cross a gutter when one of her legs slipped, causing her to plummet into a hole within the gutter.

The swift floodwaters swiftly carried her away and transported her into an open and underground drainage, directly across Government House, Owerri.

Passersby and motorists defied the rain as they witnessed the tragic scene unfold and criticized the authorities for its apparent negligence in securing the underground drainage, which had been a looming danger for years.

As they waited anxiously, they prayed for a glimpse of the young girl and a chance to mount a rescue operation.

Unfortunately, their efforts proved futile and the young girl’s whereabouts remain shrouded in uncertainty as at the time of filling this report.
