by admin

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that the results of the November 11 governorship elections in Imo State will be transmitted electronically.

He also announced that similar exercise would be carried out in Kogi and Bayelsa States, where governorship elections will also hold on same day.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu, reiterated that the method involves electronic accreditation and electronic upload of results on the INEC Results Viewing (IReV) portal, as provided by law.

He made the clarification on Saturday while monitoring a mock election in Lokoja, Kogi State.

“The method is as provided by law—electronic accreditation and electronic upload of results on the INEC Results Viewing (IReV) portal, and that is why we are doing this mock.”he said.

This approach, according to him, aims to ensure transparency and efficiency in the election process.

Yakubu also emphasized that security agencies have given assurances of adequate security on election day, with a high-level meeting planned to discuss security arrangements.

This clarification follows previous discussions about the mode of result transmission for the election in Imo, Bayelsa and Kogi States governorship elections
