Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has taken a cautious stance when discussing the teams that could challenge for this season’s Premier League title.
Guardiola believes it is too early in the campaign to determine who the top contenders are.
During his pre-match press conference ahead of the Premier League derby against Manchester United, Guardiola stated, “It’s too early. All the teams are there because the teams are a little bit behind. Many things can happen in nine games, based on my experience. We have been behind with few points in February and March and have been able to win in the end.”
He emphasized the importance of improving Manchester City’s style of play and mentality, and he is keen to see how his team performs in big scenarios and whether they maintain the right mentality.
Guardiola also noted that Manchester United is always a contender, but he believes it is premature to make title predictions at this stage of the season.
Currently, Manchester City occupies the second position on the Premier League table, while Manchester United is in eighth place.
