Onyeneke Mourns Demise Of Two Veteran Journalists

The Special Adviser to the Imo Governor on Imo Orientation Agency,Chief Dr. Fidel Onyeneke, has expressed deep shock over the deaths of two veteran journalists in Imo State, Mr. Basil Ogbuji and Comrade Onyebuchi Okoronkwo.


In a condolence message,Chief Onyeneke described their deaths as a colossal loss considering the immense contributions they made towards the growth of the media industry.

He observed that the deceased veterans displayed enviable mastery of their professional duties and used their communication skills to enhance the socio-economic growth of the South-East and the nation at large.


Chief Onyeneke,who served as Imo State Chairman and National Trustee of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), recalled the roles both officers played to ensure that media practitioners occupied a pride of place in the society through their qualitative and unbiased reporting of events.


He observed that both Basil Ogbuji and Onyebuchi Okoronkwo worked in national media outfits,where they enhanced the unity and peace of the country.


The Special Adviser, who related very closely with the two journalists,said that they were role models who left legacies worthy of emulation in the journalism profession.


Onyeneke extended his sympathy to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), family members of the departed,and all media practitioners, urging them to bear the loss with fortitude.
