Imo Guber: Uzodimma Cruising To Victory, Achonu A Visiting Native, Anyanwu A Loner In PDP, Says Onuegbu

*Says Ogunewe Yet to Understand the Political Geography of Imo State*

Ahead of the Imo Governorship election slated for next Saturday, November 11, the Chief Political Adviser and Head of Political Bureau to Imo State Governor, Barr Enyinna Onuegbu, has expressed optimism that Governor Uzodimma will emerge victorious by next Saturday, adding that Uzodimma has performed creditably enough to warrant another term of four years.

Speaking to newsmen after the meeting of APC members at his Ngor-Okpala country home, Onuegbu, a practicing lawyer with many years of standing, revealed that aside from the late Imo elder state man,Chief Sam Mbakwe, no other governor can be equated with Uzodimma in good governance and administration, both tangible and intangible, in Imo.

According to Onuegbu, infrastructure-wise, Uzodimma has lifted the bar on road construction, pointing out that the major roads that link Imo to other states, such as Orlu/Owerri Road and Okigwe/Owerri Road, among others, have ceased to be death traps following the Uzodimma Roads revolution in the state.

Aside from road reconstruction, the popular Alvan Ikokuku College of Education in Owerri has been elevated to a Federal University of Education, which, according to him, is applicable to the Federal University of Technology Teaching Hospital, formerly called FMC Owerri.

Describing Uzodimma as a visionary politician and leader, Onuegbu,a former executive chairman of Ngor-Okpala and former Commissioner for Lands in Imo, pointed out that a lot of Imo people would be employed in these institutions as soon as they became operational, courtesy of Uzodimma.

Responding to the question of the possibility of Uzodimma returning for a second term, where the likes of PDP candidate Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, Labour party candidate Senator Athan Achonu, and Action Alliance candidate Rtd Gen. Lincoln Ogunewe, amongst others, Onuegbu categorically stated that though there are other contestants, they are only on the ballot to answer former governorship candidates in Imo who are not actually contesting to win.

He said Retired General Ogunewe is only contesting to familiarize himself with the political geography of Imo and not necessarily to win the election.

He described Senator Anyanwu as a lonely and homeless PDP candidate who does not know whether to withdraw or continue with the contest.

Onuegbu also revealed that Anyanwu, after pulling down the opposition party, has no shelter to cover himself.

Onuegbu further stated that all the bigwigs in the PDP have left the party and joined Governor Uzodimma and the ruling APC; hence, Anyawu is now the only person in the torn umbrella.

On the part of the Labour Party Governorship candidate, Chief Athan Achonu, Onuegbu pointed out that Achonu is a mere native non-resident who has not spent two months in Imo in the last 10 years, adding that Achonu has returned to Imo and joined the contest only to create public awareness and not necessarily to win; hence, his campaign is limited to Umunumo Ehime Mbano, his place of birth.

Onuegbu used the forum to call on Imo people to remain supportive of the Uzodimma-led administration to enable him to move Imo to the next level in his next tenure.

He hinted that only Uzodimma has all it takes to move the state forward and not any prospective learner on the job masquerading as a Guber Candidate.
