In a landslide victory, Hope Uzodimma, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), emerged triumphant in the Imo State governorship election held on Saturday, November 11, 2023.

The resounding win was officially declared at the collation centre in Owerri, by the State Returning Officer, Abayomi Fasina, who announced all the results from all 27 local government areas.

Uzodinma’s sweeping success reflected a decisive mandate from the people, with the APC securing a substantial lead of 540,308 votes.

This commanding margin showcased the widespread support garnered by the APC candidate across the diverse localities of Imo State.

The main opposition, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), trailed significantly, securing the second position with a total of 71,503 votes.

Despite their efforts, the PDP and it’s candidate Senator Samuel Anyanwu fell short of the robust support that propelled Uzodimma and the APC to victory.

The Labour Party candidate,Senator Athan Achonu claimed the third position, amassing 64,081 votes.

APC’s victory represents a significant showing for the party, indicating a presence and influence in certain areas of the state.

On the other hand, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) found itself in the fourth position, obtaining 6,392 votes.

This result underscored the varied political landscape in Imo State, with voters making distinct choices based on party preferences and candidate appeal.

Uzodinma’s victory was not only numerical but also symbolic, signaling a shift in the political dynamics of Imo State.

The widespread peace reported during the election further highlighted the acceptance of the electoral process by the citizens, contributing to the credibility of the outcome.

As re elected, Hope Uzodinma is poised to assume a leadership role that reflects the collective will of the people of Imo State.

His task now involves translating the electoral support into impactful governance, addressing the aspirations and needs of the diverse communities that make up the state.

The numbers speak volumes about the confidence Imo residents have placed in Uzodinma and the APC, setting the stage for a new chapter in the state’s political landscape.
