Businessman and socialite, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has been granted bail in the sum of N10 million with two sureties by the Federal High Court in Lagos State.
Chief Priest, who pleaded not guilty, faced charges of tampering and abusing the national currency during a social event.
The celebrity bar man appeared before Justice Kehinde Ogundare on three counts related to the misuse of the naira, reportedly spraying and tampering with currency in violation of the Central Bank Act of 2007.
The alleged incident occurred on February 13, 2024, at Eko Hotel, where Chief Priest was accused of spraying N500 notes for a duration of two hours while dancing.
Despite his plea, the court deemed his actions as offenses against the nation’s currency and consequently granted him bail pending further legal proceedings.
