The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Imo State has extended an invitation to former governor Emeka Ihedioha following his departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing ideological differences.
Ihedioha’s decision to part ways with the PDP sparked a wave of exits from the party, including notable figures like former deputy governor Gerald Irona, former Minister Jude Njoku, and State Chairman Charles Ugwuh.
Reports indicate that a delegation from APGA, led by Mr. John Iwuala, recently met with Ihedioha to advocate for his membership in the party.
While Ihedioha welcomed the outreach, he emphasized the imperative of good governance in Imo State and voiced concerns about the PDP’s dwindling status as a credible opposition force.
Sources at the meeting told INNONEWS that the former governor remained non-committal regarding a potential switch to APGA, stressing the importance of aligning with a party committed to transparency and effective governance.
He indicated that his Rebuild Imo team would meet to explore options that align with their principles.
Meanwhile, Uche Nwosu, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Chief of Staff to ex-Governor Rochas Okorocha, urged Ihedioha to consider joining the APC.
Nwosu stated that such a move would facilitate collaboration between Ihedioha and Governor Hope Uzodimma for the betterment of Imo State and for President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
