Imo Election Tribunal Judgement:APC Hails Verdict,PDP Cries Foul

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Imo State Chapter, has hailed the judgment of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal affirming the victory of Governor Hope Uzodimma, describing it as a testament to his “broad popularity and the confidence reposed in him by the people of Imo State”.

In a press release signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Cajetan Duke, JP, the party congratulated Governor Uzodimma on his “reaffirmation of his mandate”, saying the victory belongs to every Imolite who believes in the progress and development strides of the APC-led administration.

“We dedicate this triumphant moment to the good and resourceful people of Imo State, whose unwavering support has been instrumental in achieving this success,” the party said.

However, the Imo PDP has raised the alarm over a fake video circulating on social media, purporting to show a crowd jubilating in Owerri over Friday’s tribunal judgment in favour of Governor Hope Uzodimma.

“We urge the public to disregard the video as it never happened anywhere in the capital city or any other place in Imo State,” said Lancelot Obiaku, Director-General of Imo PDP New Media, in a statement in Owerri.

“The video is old and unrelated to the subject matter it has been tagged to.

“It’s a desperate attempt by APC agents to mislead the public,” he added.

The APC however urged all Imo people to remain hopeful and supportive of Governor Uzodimma’s administration, saying “together, we will work to bring about meaningful economic development and make Imo State an attractive destination for investment and growth”.

But the PDP has vowed to continue fighting for justice, saying the judgment is a travesty of justice.

“Don’t be deceived by this fake video,” Obiaku warned.

“The truth is that Imo people are tired of Uzodimma’s government and are yearning for a change.”

The DG noted that the people of Imo State are instead in a somber mood, wondering how the judgment could have favored Uzodinma despite “obvious electoral fraud.”

He added that Imo people are eager to see an end to Uzodimma’s “fascist government” and predicted that their desires would soon come to pass.
